About the Doctor
Aidan Raney, MD, FACC, is a board certified cardiologist specializing in advanced interventional cardiology procedures. Dr. Raney received internal medicine and cardiology fellowship training at UC Irvine, followed by a two-year fellowship in interventional cardiology at the prestigious Scripps Clinic in La Jolla.
As one of the premier cardiologists in Southern California, Dr. Raney has a special focus on complex coronary interventions, including coronary stent procedures, rotablator atherectomy, and intracoronary radiation. He was one of the first physicians to perform TAVR — minimally invasive aortic valve replacement — in Orange County.
While Dr. Raney has performed over one thousand coronary interventions, he is equally skilled in the non-invasive and preventative treatment of heart disease. His strong research background and involvement with evolving technologies have contributed to numerous medical publications and leadership roles in the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Raney operates his outpatient clinic at St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group in Orange, CA and performs procedures at both St. Joseph Hospital in Orange and St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. A Southern California native, he resides in Newport Beach with his wife, Natalie, and enjoys surfing, golf, and reading.
Medicine runs deep in the Raney family. Dr. Raney's grandfather invented the Raney Clip — a surgical instrument still widely used in neurosurgery to this day, with recent publications continuing to highlight its impact on the field. His father was the Head of Cardiac Surgery at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, where he performed approximately one hundred mitral valve repairs per year — a remarkable volume that placed him among the elite cardiac surgeons in Southern California. The apple does not fall from the tree: Dr. Raney has followed in that tradition, becoming one of the leaders in mitral repair and replacement through advanced transcatheter options.

Patient Stories
I interviewed several different interventional cardiologists and Dr. Raney stood out from the get go. It was clear that he had an expert background in this newer and technologically advanced medical procedure. Thanks to Dr. Raney, the procedure itself was a tremendous success and my recovery was a swift one.
As a physician of 30 years, I am familiar with the difference between good and great medical care. Dr. Raney embodies the qualities of an excellent physician — tremendously knowledgeable, and he took the time to liaise with my family to keep them abreast of my procedure and recovery. I could not have been more impressed.
Thank you for performing a TAVR operation on my mom. You were so amazing throughout this entire process! You took the time to go over the many questions that my mom and I had. You checked in with us frequently prior to the operation — I can't tell you how much peace of mind that gave us. I cannot thank you enough for giving my mother this new lease on life.
My main focus of this letter is to let you know how much I have been wanting to thank you and your entire surgical staff from the bottom of my heart for all you have done in order for me to continue having a great quality of life. My thanks are an understatement as to how I feel about my gratitude for your skill as a cardiologist and I will be forever grateful.
